Dan DeChellis Trio

Originals and Standards

Dan DeChellis was drawn to the piano by his grandmother and the music of Scott Joplin. At the age of 7 he asked his parents to buy him a piano, a small spinet. They said they would buy it if he promised to take lessons until he moved out of the house, and so he made a career decision at the age of 7. For the next 40 some years, piano & music has been his focus and passion. He holds a masters in Classical piano, where he also played jazz and began Improvising on stage. Dan has released over 25 CDs of original music and recorded many sessions for others. He continues an active recording, teaching and performing schedule.

The Dan DeChellis Trio was founded in demise of Lehigh Valley Awards “Best New Artist” ThreeMonks in 2007. Dan had composed a lot of music for that group and turned it instrumental at that point. The Dan DeChellis Trio has performed at: Miller Symphony Hall in Allentown, Musikfest, Hotel Bethlehem, Chris Jazz Café (Philly). The trio has released 5 cd’s of original music and looks forward more new music soon.

Dan has also worked extensively with The Dana Gaynor Band, Acoustic Kitty Project and Roi and the Secret People. Dan teaches Music Improvisation at Moravian University.
